Social Media Diary
After tracking my social media patterns and usage over the past week, I didn't discover many things that I didn't already know. When I first heard that I had to track my social media use for a couple of days, I immediately knew that I would find out that I am on social media and my phone way more than I need to be. This is because I often go on social media out of boredom and convenience instead of having a reason to be on my phone. If I'm ever watching a movie or tv show, I'm casually scrolling on Instagram or playing a game on my phone. This is a very bad habit, but unfortunately, it's just part of my daily routine now. The social media apps I use the most are TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. I use these apps the most because I use them to connect with friends and see what celebrities or brands are up to. I notice that I use most of these apps when lying in bed, not doing anything important, but I rarely use them if I'm out with friends or getting work done. Overall, what I learned most from this experience is that I came in knowing that I am on social media too much, and honestly, I didn't want or feel the need to change anything about that. Reflecting on that now, I realize that social media is not completely taking over my life, but I should still make it a goal to cut back. Although it's okay to occasionally go on social media and relax for a bit every day, I could use most of that time doing something more productive and better for me.
